Zebras

Today, we started off the lesson by continuing with the story that we left behind yesterday. The children were getting more and more excited to know whether the boy manage to free himself. Finally, when the boy managed to free himself and went back to the gazelles group, the children felt relief.

After that, I get the children to share some thoughts or facts that they know about zebras.

Wei Xiang: Zebra eat grass, some kind of horse.
Jie Min: Zebra can run fast.
Germaine: Zebra can find (can be found) in the zoo.
Umeko: Zebra got lines on their body. (stripes)
Wei Xiang: Zebra got hair from the head to neck.
Jie Min: Zebra's tail got hair.
Germaine: Zebra is with groups.
Umeko: Zebra can smell very good.
Germaine: Zebra is from the horse family.
Jie Min: Zebra's mouth and nose are black.
Germaine: Zebra's stripes are little brownish and blackish.
Wei Xiang: Zebra's stripes are black and white.
Umeko: Zebra's feet are black.
Germaine: Zebra's footprint is an "A".
Wei Xiang: Zebras run everyday. It doesn't walk.

Then, I played them a video of introducing zebras. From the video, we looked back at the feedback given by the children. They agreed to most of it and disagreed to some.

From the video, the children also learned a little more about zebras. We shall use those information for our next activity.

Today, I have also prepared a zebra art work to do with the children. In order for them to get it right, I guided them throughout the process of doing it. However, we only managed to complete parts of the art work and needed to continue with it on the next day.

Here are some pictures taken during the activity:
